'TRIAGE' TO OPEN ROME FILM FEST 2009

EXTRACT:

Danis Tanovic’s ‘Triage’ will open this year’s Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) on October 15. The film’s stars Colin Farrell and Paz Vega are expected to attend the opening night gala.

Having recently received its world premiere screening at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada, this will be the film’s European premiere.

’Triage’ tells the story of the impact of post-traumatic stress syndrome on a war photographer who returns to Ireland to be hit with the fact that his best friend has failed to come home. It was produced by Alan Moloney, Cedomir Kolar and Mark Baschet and the director of photography for the film was Seamus Deasy. Many of the film’s scenes were shot in and around Dublin.

The Rome International Film Festival, now in its fourth season, will feature 12 films in competition. ‘Triage’ will contend with other films such as Michael Hoffman’s ‘The Last Station’, a dramatic exploration of Leo Tolstoy’s wife starring Helen Mirren and James McAvoy; and Jason Reitman’s ‘Up in the Air’, starring George Clooney which tells the tale of a corporate downsizing expert whose beloved life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles.

  1. Colin will be there fighting to get a distribuitor. I sure wish him luck. It would be wonderfull to be able to watch this movie on theaters everywhere. Although I will cry like a baby seeing him so skinny. I was sad that it didn't cause a great reaction at toronto. It must hurt him, don't you think? Look at the tremendous efford he did to make this movie more beliavable. Lets hope and pray.

  2. I would doubt he'd take it personally. He's now a Golden Globe winner and there's so many good films that didn't get picked up for distribution due to the economy. I just hope we get to see them in theatre's and not straight to DVD.

  3. Triage got a bad review in Variety today. Colin and the other actors weren't critized, only the movie. I can't remember exactly but it said something like the actors did the best they could with the material. Ouch. Poor Colin. I thought this would be a good film for him.
