ROBERT PATTINSON REPLACES COLIN FARRELL IN "COSMOPOLIS"...

Looks like Colin has chosen to do the film "Total Recall" over "Cosmopolis", and it's certainly leading many to beggar the question: Why?

EXTRACT:

Robert Pattinson, meanwhile, is going a little more high-minded, co-starring with Cristoph Waltz in Water For Elephants and now taking over for Colin Farrell in David Cronenberg‘s adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis. I know which actor I can respect more, without question. But what does this mean for the dedicated David Cronenberg fan?

I expect a lot of Cronenberg fans just exhaled a sad or exasperated sigh, for starters. I’ll admit that my own interest in Cosmopolis just took a dive. It’s a weird situation, where I can really respect Robert Pattinson for taking the gig, but him doing so really seems to ding the movie’s potential.

Meanwhile, how big of a Total Recall fan — or a paycheck fan — is Colin Farrell to choose Len Wiseman’s new Total Recall over working with David Cronenberg? I like Farrell a lot, and think he’s made some interesting and generally good choices in his career. But this one is a serious WTF situation.

  1. Sorry to say but this guy takes the words out of my mouth:

I was really forward to see this movie, I have read a book and it was good. I think Colin was perfect for this role. :(

  2. I couldn't agree more Anna :-o I'm hoping there's more to this other than just the sheer call of a potential 'Hollywood Blockbuster'?!

It's hard to make sense of it all... why after all the hard work Colin put into his career by rightly opting to stay clear of Hollywood, and for which he is now rightly being recognised by the public and the industry alike as being very much a 'credible' actor, would he suddenly believe a Hollywood blockbuster can do more for his career than the independent films he has been doing?

Surely, the real reason cannot be he actually wants to prove to himself that 'Yes, he is a Hollywood Star rather than an Actor?

If 'Total Recall' flops, which I sincerely hope it doesn't, but if it does, exactly where will this leave Colin career wise? Will he really be able to slip back into independent films again quite so easily again, or will the damage already have been done :-/

  3. Is this the same man that, when accused of making indie films due to the fact that Hollywood wouldn't touch him with a barge poll, claimed no, no, that it was all about the work and made his choices based on whether or not the script moved him? Surely this choice was based more on paycheck and fame than artistry as I can't see how "moved" he would be with the script he has chosen. Every point that you've made Gem, I've agreed with and thought myself. I've been a fan of Colin's for many years but today, I'm disappointed. =((
